Strength Training and HYROX: Transforming My Fitness Journey at 48
Discovering Strength Training
At the age of 48, I began my journey into strength training after years of running and cycling. I joined F45 to explore the benefits of functional fitness classes that combined strength and cardio with a focus on weight management.
Training for My First HYROX
Encouraged by the supportive community at F45, I trained hard for my first HYROX competition, which includes eight 1km runs and challenging workout stations. My plan included:
- Monday: 8k run with bodyweight exercises
- Tuesday: Functional strength training
- Wednesday: High-intensity cardio
- Thursday: Rest day
- Friday: Hybrid training
- Saturday: Bootcamp or F45 workout
- Sunday: HYROX-specific training sessions
Nutritional Support for Performance
To support my training, I focused on a balanced diet, increasing my protein and complex carbohydrate intake, which improved my performance and recovery during competitions.
A Journey of Confidence
Completing my first HYROX was a defining moment; it taught me the value of a positive mindset and the importance of community support. Despite the challenges of the races, I learned to embrace my journey and inspire others to take the leap into fitness.
