Sofia Goggia's Recent Surgery

Sofia Goggia, the prominent athlete, has recently undergone surgery to remove screws and plates from her leg. This procedure was necessary following her tibial plateau fracture sustained during a training incident on February 5th in Ponte di Legno. Post-surgery, she has been released from the clinic and is expected to commence her recovery process swiftly.

The Surgical Details

The operation was performed at La Madonnina clinic in Milan by Dr. Andrea Panzeri, alongside Dr. Herbert Schoenhuber and Dr. Riccardo Accetta. They successfully executed the surgery, aiming for Goggia to resume physical training without haste. The main objective is to ensure a smooth and gradual return to form.

Looking Forward to Training

Since returning to skiing in early June, Goggia experienced discomfort while wearing her ski boots, which pressed on the areas where the screws were placed. Thus, in agreement with her medical team, she advanced her surgery date to September to facilitate a smoother return to training. The athlete hopes to be in top shape for training sessions starting in November in North America.
