According to the announcement, hotel operations will cease on December 31, 2024. This was communicated to the approximately 50 employees of Spree Galerie Hotelbetriebsgesellschaft mbH, which operates the hotel, on Wednesday. The closure is due to the expiration of the contractual agreement between Spree Galerie Hotelbetriebsgesellschaft mbH and the owner of the property where the hotel operates. Niederlausitz: Lindner Congress Hotel Cottbus Closes

Michael Fehrmann, General Manager of Lindner Hotel Cottbus, made an exclusive statement: “We are not leaving the people who work at Lindner Hotel Cottbus alone; we will support them to the best of our ability.” He thanked the employees for their long-standing loyalty and commitment, which substantially contributed to establishing the hotel as one of the best in Southeast Brandenburg. The staff was informed about the closure during a meeting. The Lindner Hotel Group has assured support for affected employees in finding new positions, especially in other Lindner hotels. According to preliminary research from our Niedralusitz aktuell team, there are already future plans for the building from the owner. Further information is expected.

City Officials Regret the Closure

Cottbus Mayor Tobias Schick expressed regret over this step in an initial statement to Niederlausitz aktuell: “The Spree Galerie complex was created during a pivotal time in the city of Cottbus/Chóźebuz, during the Buga 1995. It is all the more regrettable to see this step now when we sense a renewed spirit of change, where new attractive jobs are arising, we are aiming for an influx, and we ultimately need hotel capacities.” He noted that the decision of the contracting parties must now be acknowledged. However, as mayor and city administration, they are open to discussions and mediations to ensure the property in the heart of the city continues to be well utilized.
