Twitch News: Aim Assist Overhaul in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta

In recent discussions around aim assist in shooters, a new approach has been taken by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Currently in beta for pre-order customers and Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the developers have revamped aim assist to establish a level playing field.

Aim Assist Adjustments by Treyarch

A Treyarch developer confirmed that the studio has made adjustments to controller aim assist. The effectiveness has been diminished by removing customization options for the feature. Notably, players will now receive less targeting assistance in close-quarters combat.

In response to a YouTuber's feedback, Treyarch's Associate Design Director Matt Scronce commented, “Optimizations have been made. The aim assist type has been removed to ensure everyone is on a level level. Further details will be shared soon.”

Beta Settings Limited

In the current beta settings for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, players have the option to toggle aim assist on or off. Previous titles in the series featured multiple customization settings that varied in strength and feel, but these have been completely removed in the latest installment.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set for release on October 25 for PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. From September 6, all interested players can join the open beta of the shooter.
