Guinea's Bauxite Exports Continue to Break Records in 2023
Record Bauxite Exports from Guinea
Guinea's bauxite exports have broken records, reaching an impressive 124.84 million tonnes in 2023, which is a 22% increase from the previous year. The bulk of these exports are directed towards China, originating from the ports of Kamsar, Boffa, Cap Verga, and Conakry.
Export Volume Growth
According to research by Ursa Shipbrokers, year-to-date seaborne bauxite exports have already accounted for approximately 92 million tonnes, which makes up around 74% of the total expected for 2023. This surge in export volumes necessitated the use of 96.45m tonnes of dry bulk carriers' capacity for transport.
Increasing Demand and Potential
With the world's largest bauxite reserves estimated at 7.4 billion tonnes, Guinea’s role in the aluminium supply chain is becoming increasingly significant. Exports in July alone saw a remarkable increase of about 18.99% compared to the previous month, reflecting ongoing strong demand in the global market.
