Schiege Flumo: A Unique Animal Hybrid
A fascinating occurrence took place on a former farm east of Flensburg, Germany: a sheep and a goat have purportedly mated to produce an offspring. Rune, the seven-year-old goat, and Selma, the six-year-old sheep, are the proud parents of little Flumo, as reported by Bild. This rare union is believed to have resulted in March, about five months ago.
Flumo's Unique Characteristics
According to the farmer Dag, Flumo's coat resembles that of the goat, being white with brown spots, while the sheep has dark fur. Dag noted, "Flumo bleats more like a goat than a sheep." The farmer theorizes that Rune has attempted to mate with the sheep before, although he had never witnessed it firsthand. Notably, goat bucks are known for their pronounced sexual drive.
A Name with a Backstory
The rare creature's name, Flumo, stems from a techno festival called the Flugmodus Festival that took place on the farm on August 16-17, attracting around 350 ravers. Dag recounted, "The next morning, my daughter asked if I had seen the newborn lamb. I was very surprised." According to Dag's research, the last known schiege in Germany was born ten years prior, highlighting the rarity of such hybrids, akin to mules – offspring of a donkey and horse.
