NZTA Reopens Highway

State Highway 6 has reopened after a slip between Hira and Rai Valley previously closed the main route between Nelson and Blenheim.

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) announced that SH6 is now open under a traffic light stop/go system.

In a recent update, NZTA Waka Kotahi mentioned a 30km/h speed limit remains applicable in the area on Whangamoa Hill.

Details of the Closure

The highway was shut down for safety precautions around 5.30am after debris fell onto the road. It reopened around 4.30pm the same day.

Residents and travelers can expect an additional update tomorrow at midday, regarding necessary repairs to address the slip and its implications for road usage.
