The Smile's New Releases Set to Redefine Music in 2024
The Smile's New Releases: What to Expect in 2024
The Smile will return, perhaps sooner than expected, with their second album of the year on October 4. Cutouts, the follow-up to Wall of Eyes, arrives on XL following the recent single Don’t Get Me Started b/w The Slip. Two more new songs, Foreign Spies and Zero Sum, precede the LP, the latter featuring a music video by Weirdcore.
Recent Updates on The Smile
The trio of Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, alongside jazz drummer Tom Skinner, has spent much of the year touring behind Wall of Eyes. However, the group recently canceled several shows due to a severe infection that left Greenwood hospitalized in intensive care. “Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home,” the band wrote.
New Songs and Collaborations
Don’t Get Me Started and the previously vinyl-only The Slip both feature on the new record. The Smile recorded the upcoming album with producer Sam Petts-Davies in Oxford and at London’s Abbey Road Studios during the same period that brought about Wall of Eyes.
