Gerard Darmon and the Thought-Provoking Film Project
Since the end of July 2024, Jean-Pierre Améris (Les Émotifs Anonymes, Marie-Line et son juge) has started filming his next feature film, Aimons-nous vivants. The Lyon-born director highlights the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Over four days in August, the film crew shot several scenes between Thonon-les-Bains and Évian. The movie tells the story of Antoine Toussaint, a famous 70-year-old French singer whose life revolves around music. When he suffers a stroke in front of his audience, he believes he can no longer perform. He considers assisted suicide at a Swiss clinic but meets Victoire, a woman recently released from prison, as she journeys to attend her daughter's wedding. Antoine ultimately decides to join her in reconnecting with his daughter, discovering new reasons to live. In this dramatic comedy, Gerard Darmon, Valérie Lemercier, and Patrick Timsit share the screen.
