Perth Weather Alert: Severe Storm Warning
Perth has been issued with yet another urgent storm warning following a week of wild winter weather. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued the warning on Friday ahead of what’s expected to be a weekend of damaging winds and heavy rain. Residents are being warned to act immediately to stay safe in affected areas such as Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Esperance, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Moora, Mount Barker, Narrogin, Northam and Perth.
“A strong cold front will move across south-western WA during Saturday morning, reaching the west coast an hour or two before sunrise,” an accompanying statement from the Bureau of Meteorology said. “The front will then move swiftly east, reaching the Esperance area by late morning. A stream of gusty showers and isolated thunderstorms is expected to continue behind the front, with these conditions gradually contracting towards southern coastal areas during the day.”
Expected Weather Conditions
- Damaging wind gusts of up to 100km/h from early Saturday.
- Gusts of around 90km/h possible in gusty showers and isolated thunderstorms.
- Conditions expected to ease by Saturday night.
