Jackson Carman Waived by Bengals as Roster Decisions Heat Up
The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Friday that they have waived 11 players, including Jackson Carman. This move brings the Bengals closer to the 53-man roster limit that must be in place by Tuesday, August 27th, yet several more players will need to be waived in the upcoming days. Below is the full list of players waived on Friday:
- Jackson Carman
- Player 2
- Player 3
Carman's departure officially concludes one of the biggest busts in recent memory for the Bengals. The 2021 second-round NFL Draft pick out of Clemson struggled to find his footing in the NFL, despite multiple chances to play both offensive tackle positions and at guard. His performance this year was so poor that he barely logged preseason snaps, with most starters only participating in one game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In Thursday’s preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts, Carman didn’t even get into the game until the fourth quarter. There’s a chance the Bengals could try to bring Carman onto the practice squad, but frankly, it may be time for both parties to move on. As for the remaining cuts, none posed realistic candidates for the 53-man roster. A few may still be signed to the practice squad once rosters are finalized next Wednesday, August 28th.
