League of Legends Matchmaking Update Faces Delays Due to Issues
Developers Encounter Issues with Matchmaking Improvements
In response to fan complaints, the League of Legends team made adjustments in Update 14.15, aiming to reduce smurfing. Patch 14.16 was set to enhance the automatic role distribution and balance teams more effectively, ensuring players are placed in roles they didn't sign up for, while also decreasing the LP gap between players in matches. However, just before the rollout of Patch 14.16, Lead Game Developer Matt "Proxzon" Leung-Harrison revealed that they encountered unspecified problems in implementing these measures.
Changes Shifted to Patch 14.17
As a result, the decision was made to push the matchmaking updates to Patch 14.17. Players will now have to wait until August 28, 2024, for the next update due to these delays.
