Stephanie Grisham Makes Waves at the Democratic Convention
Stephanie Grisham Challenges Trump at Democratic Convention
CHICAGO — Former Trump official Stephanie Grisham will take the stage at the Democratic National Convention this week, bringing a Republican voice aimed at highlighting the extremism associated with Donald Trump.
“I never thought I’d be speaking at a Democratic convention. But, after seeing firsthand who Donald Trump really is, and the threat he poses to our country, I feel very strongly about speaking out,” Grisham explained in a statement to NBC News.
With a background as a press aide during Trump’s 2016 campaign, Grisham's trajectory includes serving as chief of staff and press secretary for Melania Trump before briefly stepping into the role of White House press secretary in 2019. Her resignation came shortly after the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Grisham's Call to Action
In her statement, Grisham expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris, stating, “While I don’t agree with Vice President Harris on everything, I am proud to be supporting her because I know she will defend our freedoms and represent our nation with honesty and integrity.”
Other Republicans, including former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, are also expected to hold similar positions throughout the convention. The Harris campaign has strategically enlisted Republican leaders to rally against Trump and promote a coalition of voters prioritizing democracy over extremism.
Continuing Efforts Against Extremism
“We will be putting patriotic Republicans front and center in our convention programming to explain, in their own words, why they are putting country first and supporting Vice President Harris,” stated Austin Weatherford, Harris’s national Republican engagement director.
The campaign has launched the “Republicans for Harris” program to reach voters disillusioned by Trump's influence, highlighting the potential dangers of Project 2025, aiming to secure a second Trump term.
