Nearly 20 years after its original run, Malcolm is set to return to screens. Disney+ confirmed on December 13 that it has ordered a new mini-season comprising 4 episodes of the cult classic from the 2000s.

According to American media outlet Variety, part of the original cast will reprise their roles, including Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, Jane Kaczmarek as Lois, and creator Linwood Boomer.

Development of the Revival

First aired on Fox from 2000 to 2006, Malcolm follows the daily life of a gifted boy and his family in an American middle-class suburb. There have been talks of a reunion project since 2019 when Frankie Muniz hinted at a film featuring the beloved family: Malcolm, Lois, Hal, Francine, Reese, and Dewey, driven by Bryan Cranston’s vision.

In 2023, Cranston confirmed during an interview on Watch What Happens Live that he had been working on a script for a revival of the series, finally bringing this beloved family's story to life once more.
