The scene unfolded during the 56th over of India's second innings, as Sarfaraz was on the verge of securing his maiden Test century in an exhilarating home team comeback.

Details of the Incident

On the initial delivery of the over, Sarfaraz, batting on 94, executed a late cut off Matt Henry to deep backward point. He dashed for the first run, believing there was a chance for a second. Both players initially seemed eager for the additional run, but Sarfaraz soon sensed danger, choosing to halt his advance while Pant continued running, oblivious to his partner. In a moment of panic, Sarfaraz shouted and waved his arms, desperate to signal Pant to return.

Fortunately, the throw from wicketkeeper Tom Blundell missed the stumps, allowing Pant enough time to scramble back to safety. For an unknown reason, Blundell opted out of executing an under-arm flick to settle the run out.
