Pro League Shows How Many Spectators Attend Championship Matches on Average

The matches in Belgium's football championship attracted a total of 3,250,920 supporters last season, representing an average of 10,410 fans per match, as announced by the Pro League in a communication last Friday.

Comparison with Previous Seasons

The Pro League highlighted that "not less than 200,000 additional spectators" found their way to the stadium last season in the Jupiler Pro League. This brings attendance figures back to near the best numbers of the past ten years.

• Average of 79,290 spectators per match day in the Jupiler Pro League, close to pre-COVID levels.
• Almost on par with the 2019/2020 season (85,856) and better than 2018/2019 (76,932).

Challenger Pro League Insights

In the Challenger Pro League, the average was 13,680 spectators per match day, up from 9,014 in the previous season and 5,682 in 2021/2022.

"We see this increase among both young and older audiences,” celebrated Lorin Parys, CEO of the Pro League. "This is evidence that football is a vital ingredient in our society. We unite 6 out of 10 Belgians around our championships; nobody else can imitate this."

Future Plans for Engagement

Parys noted that increasing supporter numbers across all leagues remains a top priority. They will work with each club to identify potential future supporters and refine their recruitment strategies.
