Next Tropical Disturbance Update

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring a disturbance in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean. In a 5 p.m. update, the system has a 40% chance of development as it moves westward or southwestward across the tropical Atlantic over the next seven days.

Current Position and Forecast

Located a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, the system is forecasted to move in an environment less conducive for development over the next few days. However, as it continues to progress west in the western tropical Atlantic, it may enter an area more favorable for development by the middle of the week.

Monitoring and Future Developments

The wave will continue to be monitored over the next 10 days as development could increase next weekend.
