Princess Mary Stuns in Midnight Blue Gown and Pearl Tiara at State Banquet
Princess Mary Shines at the State Banquet
In Denmark tonight, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted their first state banquet as king and queen, welcoming Iceland's President Halla Tómansdóttir and her husband Björn Skúlasson to Christiansborg Palace.
For the occasion, Princess Mary wore a midnight blue gown, designed by Jesper Høvring, and the Danish Pearl Poiré Tiara. It is just her second time wearing the tiara, which she first donned during a State Visit to Norway in May.
The tiara has an intriguing history; it was commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia as a wedding gift for his daughter, Princess Louise, in 1825. The jewels have been passed down through generations, linking Princess Mary to the rich heritage of Danish royalty.
