Haryana Election 2024: Anil Vij Celebrates Success and Highlights Voter Turnout

AMBALA: A day after the state assembly election, former Haryana home minister and BJP Ambala Cantonment candidate Anil Vij was seen in a relaxed and happy mood at his routine tea point on Sunday. Vij spent his morning singing Mohammed Rafi’s famous song, “Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, Har fikr ko dhuen mein udaata chala gaya” (I kept going with life, blowing away all my worries in smoke). Speaking to the media, Anil Vij stated, “The election is democracy’s biggest festival. It should be celebrated as a festival. We conducted our campaign during the election the way it is done during the festivals of Holi and Diwali. Why take tension? We are winning from here (Ambala Cantonment) by a big margin, and all the workers are celebrating.” Vij also questioned the credibility of the exit polls favoring Congress in Haryana. “What system is this? The voting process was still ongoing; the election commission did not declare the vote percentage, and they are announcing the results. Exit polls have already been discredited.

On the other hand, Anil Vij’s opponent, independent candidate Chitra Sarwara, who is reported to have given a tough fight to the former minister, also held a meeting with her supporters in Ambala Cantonment to discuss the election. Chitra thanked the voters of Ambala Cantt for their support in this election. Chitra was the runner-up in Ambala Cantt during the 2019 assembly election, having contested against Anil Vij as an independent candidate then. In 2019, Vij received 64,571 votes while Chitra garnered 44,406 votes, a margin of 20,165.
