Lakers Anticipate Bronny James' Preseason Performance

Palm Desert, Calif. (AP) — Bronny James is anticipated to make his debut in the NBA preseason this Friday night when the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Coachella Valley (10:30 ET, NBA TV).

While his father, LeBron James, will sit out the game against Minnesota, the 39-year-old superstar may participate in the game against Phoenix on Sunday, which marks Bronny’s 20th birthday.

LeBron and Davis' Weekend Plans

The Lakers did not make any formal announcement pregame, but reports from ESPN indicate that LeBron will skip the matchup with Minnesota as he gradually returns to play after a hectic summer.

Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are expected to participate in at least one of the weekend’s games, according to Lakers coach JJ Redick.

Bronny's Path in the NBA

Selected as the Lakers’ second-round draft pick, Bronny demonstrated his skills during the team's summer league games in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-2 guard is poised to compete with the Lakers in preseason action as he prepares for a substantial role with the G League's South Bay Lakers.

“Of course there’s nerves,” Bronny shared after a recent Lakers pregame shootaround, “But I’m just excited to go out there and learn from the people playing in front of me. If I get a chance to showcase what I can do, I’m going to do that.”
