Minnesota Unites for Breast Cancer Awareness with "3-Days Your Way" Initiative
Minnesota Walks for Breast Cancer Awareness
ST. ANTHONY, Minn. – October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and from now until the end of the month, residents are encouraged to participate in the "3-Days Your Way" initiative. This new effort by the Susan G. Komen Foundation invites participants to walk 20, 40, or 60 miles to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
Inspired by Sandy Albert
The Minnesota 3-Day Your Way program was inspired by Sandy Albert, a dedicated participant who previously joined seven Minnesota 3-Day events. After the event ceased in the state due to COVID, she completed the challenge independently and inspired others to take part.
Goals and Support
The organization aims to raise $57,000 this year to combat breast cancer. Minnesota leaders predict that in 2024, about 4,500 women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis. To date, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has awarded over $17.6 million for more than 53 research grants and 13 clinical trials.
Community Impact
Providing vital support, the foundation has helped 1,445 Minnesotans weekly, granting over $121,000 in assistance to patients throughout 2023. This initiative not only raises funds but also strengthens community solidarity against breast cancer.
