BROSSARD – The Montreal Canadiens prepared for their second matchup of the preseason against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

With training camp still underway, two groups hit the ice, with Group B kicking things off on the second rink at the CN Sports Complex.

Before the main session with Group A, Patrik Laine and Mike Matheson put in some extra work with director of hockey development Adam Nicholas on one end of the ice, while Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau worked with goaltending coach Eric Raymond.

Yeah, I guess you might start to see more NHL lineups as teams start to narrow down the rosters. Obviously, there’s still a little variation between the teams at this point in time. As you move down the stretch here towards the regular season, I think teams will start to basically play their full NHL lineup with a few guys in that are still fighting for spots.

Definitely, I think I got to get better every day. I think I’ve had a decent camp but not great. I definitely need to have one of my best ones tonight.
