Ocean Park's New Additions

Hong Kong authorities are excited as they prepare to receive two giant pandas gifted by Beijing. A panel will be created to choose appropriate names for the pandas once they arrive.

Gift Details and Arrival

These pandas, previously known as An An and a male companion, are currently residing at the China Conservation and Research Centre for Giant Pandas in Chengdu. A farewell ceremony is planned in Sichuan before they arrive at Hong Kong on a cargo flight from Cathay Pacific Airways.

  • The bears are aged between five to eight years, equivalent to 15 to 24 human years.
  • Upon arrival, they will undergo a 30-day quarantine at Ocean Park.
  • The naming panel announcement is anticipated prior to a Council meeting.

Current Residents at Ocean Park

Aside from the new pandas, Ying Ying and Le Le are the current stars at Ocean Park. Additionally, the twin cubs they have recently had also await their official names.

  1. The pandas join the list of local attractions in Hong Kong.
  2. They are being closely monitored during their quarantine phase.
  3. Past resident An An, who passed away last year at an impressive age, has been a central figure in the park's history.
