Tyler Badie Set for Game Day Elevation by the Broncos
Tyler Badie Elevated for Game Day
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos are elevating running back Tyler Badie and safety Tanner McCalister from their practice squad to their game-day roster for Sunday’s game vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With rookie running back Audric Estime on the injured reserve, running back Tyler Badie will get elevated for the second straight week. Last Sunday, versus the Steelers, Badie had one carry for 16 yards, and fans and the media were wondering why he did not receive any more carries during the game.
Opportunities for Badie
The Broncos’ run game struggled mightily vs. the Steelers, but Badie’s lone carry was one of the few bright spots the team had on offense last week. Now, he will get another chance to earn some carries as the Broncos take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in tomorrow’s week 3 matchup. I would expect Badie to receive a few more carries and touches in this one and hopefully, he can be productive with them once again.
Safety Depth and McCalister's Role
McCalister gets elevated with safety JL Skinner already ruled out of tomorrow’s game with an injury. The reserve safety will provide some depth behind starters P.J. Locke and Brandon Jones, and Devon Key and Keidron Smith will join as the reserve safeties on the Broncos roster. McCalister played in three games for the Cleveland Browns last season before signing with the Broncos and spending all offseason with the team. He was signed to their practice squad last month and now will appear in his first game with the team this season.
Look for him to provide some depth and contribute on special teams during tomorrow’s game vs. the Buccaneers. A team can elevate a player from their practice to their game day roster a max of three times in a year. This will be Badie’s second elevation while this will be McCalister’s first of the season.
