Memory Drives Charity Cycle Event

Golden Charter has raised more than £4,000 for two UK veterans' charities through a ‘Pedal to Paris’ charity cycle, just a week after the sudden passing of its CEO, Charlie Norman.

Fundraising Push in Memory of Charlie Norman

  • The funds will support Golden Charter's long-standing charity partners, The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland.
  • Norman had been training alongside colleague Steven Driscoll, raising a joint total of £4,036, surpassing their initial target.
  • The 265-mile journey began in South-East London and concluded in Paris, marking a significant tribute.

A service of remembrance took place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe.

Community Support and Impact

Funeral director Julian Walker, also participating in memory of Norman, raised over £2,500 for the Royal British Legion. Golden Charter and its partners have collectively raised over £800,000 for these charities since the partnership began.

Driscoll expressed that supporting these charities was meaningful to Norman, who was dedicated to the cause. Walker described a celebratory dinner at the event's conclusion, where riders honored Norman with a heartfelt toast.

Ben France, from the Royal British Legion, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships during difficult times.
