Champions League Games: Liverpool FC's TV Coverage on Amazon Prime
Champions League Games Set to Ignite Excitement
The Champions League returns this midweek, but Liverpool FC fans will not be watching the Reds on TNT Sports. Their first match of the League phase will instead be on Amazon Prime Video, one of 17 games the streaming service will exclusively show this season.
Why Amazon Prime for Liverpool's Champions League Games?
Amazon Prime has the right to select matches every Tuesday, and they opted for Liverpool over Young Boys vs Aston Villa, which kicks off earlier. All five of Prime’s selections thus far feature Premier League clubs. Arsenal's upcoming matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk will also air on Prime. Liverpool will be back in action in early November when Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen visits Anfield.
- Manchester City’s match against Feyenoord is also on the list.
- December and January will have more coverage from Amazon, with potential Liverpool matches to come.
The Changing Landscape of Champions League Coverage
Every Champions League fixture has been shown on TNT, formerly BT Sport, since the 2015/16 season. However, the landscape has shifted with Amazon and the BBC acquiring rights to show Europe's premier club competition starting in the summer of 2022. Highlights will now air on terrestrial television with a regular midweek edition of Match of the Day hosted by Mark Chapman.
The rights deal runs until 2027, ensuring TNT will show 187 of the 204 games each season, including all Europa League fixtures featuring Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
