Barbara Pravi's new release, 'La Pieva', is an evocative album steeped in her family's history. The title, which translates to 'the singer' in Serbian, draws upon a touching family narrative. Pravi explains that in 1750, a Romani woman named Milovanovic traveled through the mountains of Serbia and Bosnia, singing to those who gathered at night. This woman became known as La Pieva, and her legacy echoes throughout the album.

A Narrative in Every Note

While the album does not center solely on this historical figure, La Pieva's spirit permeates the twelve songs. 'It's a story of generations', Pravi says, emphasizing that the album embodies memory and consciousness. Pravi approaches her music as a storyteller, crafting experiences that are more than just concerts. 'I want the audience to feel as though they are part of a narrative,' she explains.

Theatrical Performances

Her stage presence transcends traditional concert experiences, blending music, theater, and cinema. Pravi has evolved significantly since her debut album. 'I had never performed live before my first album,' she admits, revealing how she discovered her powerful stage energy, which contrasts with the calmness of her earlier work.
