A crowd of about 5,500 activists marched through Brussels this morning in support of Audi Brussels workers, whose future is uncertain due to recent restructuring announcements. The march began at 10:30 AM from the North Station toward Luxembourg Square, making its way via several key boulevards and arriving around noon. Union representatives are expected to address participants before dispersing around 1 PM.
The STIB union has urged affiliates to join the action, anticipating significant disruptions on metro, tram, and bus networks. Nonetheless, the public transport company aims to maintain some level of service. The STIB has published the list of lines that are operational, including metro lines 1 and 5, trams 3, 4, 7, 8 (Tram and T-bus), 9, 18, 51, 92, and buses 12, 29, 36, 37, 45, 46, 50, 53, 54, 56, 58, 59, 60, 65, 71, 73, 79, 87, and 95. The 12 line services all stops along its route, while the 87 line has been extended from Simonis to Etangs Noirs. Why is the STIB on strike?
