A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect for southeastern Montana until 7pm Thursday and for northeastern Montana and western North Dakota until 10pm Thursday. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for the Canyon Ferry area as well as the Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle mountains until 12am Friday. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is active for many mountains in western and southwestern Montana above 6500 feet until 6am/12pm Friday.

Weather Outlook

Widespread showers are expected tonight in western and central Montana, with a stronger rain during the second half of the night in north-central Montana. Scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected in eastern Montana, with severe thunderstorms capable of winds up to 85 mph and large hail over 1 inch in diameter. A tornado is possible.

Tomorrow's Forecast

Tomorrow, scattered showers will gradually taper off as the storm system exits the area. Cloud cover will decrease from west to east, transitioning from overcast skies to mostly sunny ones by evening. Up to .5 inches of precipitation may fall in north-central Montana, while up to .25 inches may be seen around Helena.

Weekend Weather

The weekend promises beautiful weather with partly cloudy skies and mainly dry conditions. Highs will rise into the 70s on Saturday and reach mid 60s to mid 80s on Sunday. Gusty winds up to 40 mph are expected along the Rocky Mountain Front. On Monday, expect mostly cloudy skies with a few scattered showers.
