Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, in his first full season as a NFL coach, has been in the spotlight this week after his team’s flat 22-10 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday to start the season. While it certainly wasn’t the only reason why his team lost the game, Pierce has received a lot of criticism for a key decision he made. To recap: The Chargers held a 16-10 lead with about 7:40 to go in the game and Pierce decided to punt from the Chargers’ 43 yard line on fourth and 1. The Chargers then went 92 yards to score and put the game away.

Yes, the Raiders had struggled all game to convert in short-yardage situations, but at that point of the game, it seemed like going for it was the correct decision. Pierce has maintained that he stands by the decision and said the biggest issue was the Raiders’ defense couldn’t hold the Chargers on the next drive. So, it seems like he would be comfortable making the decision over again.
