Patriots Game: Week 2 Roster Insights Against the Seahawks

Patriots Game Day Roster Overview

The New England Patriots return home for their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks, and they are doing so in decent shape. With the exception of one player, their starting lineups on both sides of the ball will remain unchanged compared to last Sunday’s win in Cincinnati. Their game day roster for Sunday’s contest therefore looks as follows:

  • Quarterback (2): Jacoby Brissett (7), Drake Maye (10)
  • Running back (3): Rhamondre Stevenson (38), Antonio Gibson (4), JaMycal Hasty (39)
  • Wide receiver (5): DeMario Douglas (3), Ja’Lynn Polk (1), K.J. Osborn (2), Tyquan Thornton (11), Javon Baker (6)
  • Tight end (3): Hunter Henry (85), Austin Hooper (81), Jaheim Bell (88)
  • Offensive tackle (4): Vederian Lowe (59 | LT), Michael Onwenu (71 | RT), Caedan Wallace (70), Zachary Thomas (72)
  • Interior offensive line (4): Michael Jordan (74 | LG | PS elevation), David Andrews (60 | C), Layden Robinson (63 | RG), Nick Leverett (51)
  • Interior defensive line (6): Davon Godchaux (92), Keion White (99), Deatrich Wise Jr. (91), Daniel Ekuale (95), Jeremiah Pharms Jr. (98), Eric Johnson (96)
  • Defensive edge (3): Anfernee Jennings (33), Joshua Uche (55), Oshane Ximines (93)
  • Linebacker (4): Ja’Whaun Bentley (8), Jahlani Tavai (48), Raekwon McMillan (50), Christian Elliss (53)
  • Cornerback (6): Christian Gonzalez (0), Jonathan Jones (31), Marcus Jones (25 | PR), Marco Wilson (22), Alex Austin (28), Marcellas Dial Jr. (27)
  • Safety (5): Kyle Dugger (23), Jabrill Peppers (5), Jaylinn Hawkins (21), Brenden Schooler (41), Dell Pettus (24)
  • Specialists (3): Joey Slye (13 | K), Bryce Baringer (17 | P | H), Joe Cardona (49 | LS)

The left tackle spot is the one prominent change compared to last week. Chukwuma Okorafor, who started Week 1 but was benched after just 12 subpar snaps, was moved to the exempt/left squad list on Saturday. In his place, Vederian Lowe assumes the starting spot he already held for much of training camp before suffering an abdominal injury. Elsewhere, there is not much to note. The only other noteworthy developments are a) Javon Baker replacing Kayshon Boutte as the fifth wide receiver, and b) waiver claims Zachary Thomas and Eric Johnson making their debut along the offensive and defensive lines, respectively.

Inactives and Practice Squad Updates

  • Inactives (5): WR Kayshon Boutte, LB Curtis Jacobs, OT Demontrey Jacobs, QB Joe Milton III (emergency QB), G Sidy Sow
  • Practice squad (15): CB Isaiah Bolden, OL Liam Fornadel, LB Joe Giles-Harris, RB Kevin Harris, DT Trysten Hill, C Bryan Hudson, RB Terrell Jennings, OT Caleb Jones, WR Matt Landers, ED Ochaun Mathis, WR Jalen Reagor, LB Yvandy Rigby, DT Jacquelin Roy, S A.J. Thomas, TE Mitchell Wilcox
  • Practice squad international (1): ED Jotham Russell
  • Exempt/left squad (1): OT Chukwuma Okorafor
  • Reserve/NFI (1): DT Christian Barmore
  • Reserve/PUP (3): G Cole Strange, WR Kendrick Bourne, LB Sione Takitaki
  • Injured reserve (5): DT Armon Watts, S/LB Marte Mapu (IR-R), OL Jake Andrews, OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr., WR JaQuae Jackson

With the Patriots currently rostering only 52 players after Chukwuma Okorafor’s move to the left squad list, only five players had to be deactivated. Among them were no real surprises, apart from Kayshon Boutte being made a healthy scratch after earning Practice Player of the Week honors just days ago. The Patriots’ Week 2 game against the Seahawks will be kicked off at 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.
