Jamie Borthwick's Commitment to EastEnders

Jamie Borthwick is one of the stars on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick has confirmed his soap future as he prepares to make his Strictly Come Dancing debut.

The Long-Serving Star

The Jay Brown actor, 30, is currently one of the longest-serving actors on the programme, having been in the cast since 2006.

However, the soap star revealed that despite his gruelling schedule, he won’t take time off filming EastEnders.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press at the Strictly launch, he said: 'I’m still there, powering through, I’ve just kind of budgeted for the next however long I’m going to be really busy, and I’ve just had to let all the social events go, gutted that I can’t go out every week.'

Preparing for the Dance Floor

Jamie also revealed he was close to missing his niece’s first birthday.

Speaking about his upcoming Strictly debut, he added: 'I originally got asked to do the show in 2018 I think, but it never happened. And then I got asked to do the Christmas show, which I loved. It was that that led me to do the main show.'

This won’t be Jamie’s first Strictly experience as he won the Christmas special last year alongside pro partner Nancy Xu.

'I had a ball doing the Strictly Christmas special last year, so when I was asked to join for this series it was the easiest yes!' he previously said.

This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say, he said, having competed in the festival special just last year.

'I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dance floor.'
