Didi Hamann's Take on Musiala: A Comparison with Thomas Müller

München (dpa) - TV expert Didi Hamann has reassessed his criticism of national player Jamal Musiala. 'When you play at the ten position, it's also your job to set up other players, as Thomas Müller did with Robert Lewandowski for years. Müller has significantly developed over the years. Musiala might be the best dribbler in Europe or the world, but in my opinion, the balance is currently lacking. If he occasionally looked up and involved teammates more, it would probably help a lot,' Hamann stated on the TV channel Sky.

He never questioned Musiala's talent, noting that he is only 21 years old. 'You always have to strive to develop your game,' said Hamann, who previously referred to Musiala as a 'solo player' and 'entertainer.' He would consider swapping the 21-year-old for the equally aged Leverkusen player Florian Wirtz 'as early as tomorrow.' Hamann's comments drew strong criticism from FC Bayern. 'Anyone with such an opinion is a bit absurd and far-fetched,' said sporting director Christoph Freund before the match against Holstein Kiel: 'We at FC Bayern are extremely happy to have such a player with us.'
