League of Legends currency costs are set to increase significantly as Riot Games announces price hikes across its popular MOBA. League of Legends Currency Changes Overview

Riot Games is implementing substantial changes to the pricing of virtual currency for League of Legends and its other titles. These modifications will be introduced on September 18, impacting the game's free-to-play model and the experiences of players worldwide. In some regions, currency costs will rise dramatically, with increases of 73% in Ukraine, 41% in Vietnam, and 40% in the Philippines.

Reasons Behind Price Adjustments

  • Targeting Regional Exploitation: Riot's adjustments aim to tackle the issue of regional third-party traders leveraging VPNs to purchase virtual currency at lower prices in one region and selling it for profit in another.
  • Ensuring Fairness: The company believes balancing prices across regions will promote fairness in gameplay.

Regional Price Changes

  1. Mexico: 9% decrease
  2. Peru: 12% decrease
  3. Chile: 6% decrease
  4. USA: No change

Prior to the new pricing, some currency bundles will be enhanced. For instance, the Valorant’s 2050 VP bundle will now offer a bonus of 300 VP instead of 150. Riot has acknowledged that these price changes are difficult for players, especially in regions facing the largest increases.

This situation raises significant implications for how players engage with Riot's games and adapt to an increasingly competitive and changing digital economy.
