Gmail Q&A Feature Rolled Out for Android
Gmail for Android is getting a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature called Gmail Q&A that empowers users to search their inbox effortlessly. On Thursday, Google announced this Gemini-powered feature for its Workspace users. By prompting Gemini in Gmail, users can obtain specific information from their emails, enhancing their workflow significantly.
Accessing the New Feature
- To use the feature, users must sign into their Google Workspace account.
- It is accessible via the black Gemini star at the top right of the app.
- Alternatively, users can tap on the summarise this email chip when reading an email.
This tool allows vague inquiries, such as “How much did the company spend on the last marketing event?”, enabling Gemini to retrieve relevant information by searching through the inbox.
Future Improvements
Google plans to enhance this AI feature further to include information retrieval from documents stored in Google Drive. Although the feature is now rolled out, it may take up to 15 days for all Workspace users to gain access. This is contingent upon users being subscribed to one of the selected add-ons, including Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium.
