Google Meet's AI-Powered Note Taking Feature for Workspace Users
Google Meet’s AI Note-Taking Feature
Google Meet is now equipped with an iAI-powered feature known as ‘Take notes for me’, designed to assist Workspace users in capturing meeting summaries. The feature utilizes Gemini AI to transcribe essential talking points during virtual meetings, making it easier for users to keep track of discussions effectively.
Feature Rollout and Availability
The rollout began on August 27 and might take up to 15 days for all users to receive the feature. This AI enhancement is accessible to Google Workspace users with either Gemini Enterprise or Gemini Education Premium subscriptions.
- Users can activate this feature by clicking the Gemini AI icon on the Meet interface.
- A new document will be created in the organizer's drive post-meeting.
Functionality and Limitations
This AI feature primarily takes concise notes and offers an option for full transcription. However, transcription can only be activated for English-speaking participants. Furthermore, the AI-generated notes will be automatically attached to the Calendar event and shared with all eligible participants.
While the feature has been rolled out, its current functionality is limited to desktop and laptop users.
