Rivian's New EV Update Transforms Vehicles with Iconic Themes
Rivian Introduces Thematic Updates to Enhance EV Experience
Rivian is embracing the Halloween spirit by launching a new software update that brings exciting car costumes to its electric vehicles. With this update, owners can now enjoy features inspired by the television classic, Knight Rider, and the beloved film, Back to the Future. Set to roll out right after midnight on October 18, 2023, these updates will offer a novel way for R1T and R1S owners to engage with their vehicles.
Available Themes for Rivian Vehicles
- Knight Rider: Activate through the Rivian Mobile App to see K.I.T.T.'s diagnostics and hear original show music.
- Back to the Future: Setting this theme releases the iconic Time Machine interface along with related sounds.
- Haunted Rivian: Offers spooky sound effects and visual updates, making it the perfect theme for Halloween.
How the Features Work
To set these themes, users simply access the Rivian Mobile App and select the respective Car Costume options. Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles will have slight differences, particularly in the KITT scanning light functionality, exclusive to Gen 2.
Visual Enhancements and Easter Eggs
The update also adds a thrilling twist to how the vehicle interacts with pedestrians and other objects on the road, creatively turning them into zombies and headless horsemen. This seasonal transformation not only captures the spirit of Halloween but strengthens Rivian's position as an innovative player in the EV market.
