Nissan, Ford, BMW, and Honda Join Forces in ChargeScape's EV Charging Revolution
Nissan Takes the Lead in ChargeScape's EV Charging Solutions
Nissan is coming aboard vehicle-to-grid (V2G) EV integration company ChargeScape as an equal investor, alongside founding automakers BMW, Ford, and Honda. Once the investment transaction is complete, Nissan plans to roll out ChargeScape’s services to its electric vehicle customers in the US and Canada.
ChargeScape’s Innovative Platform
Formed last year with operations starting in September, ChargeScape built a software platform that wirelessly communicates with EVs and utility companies, managing home charging and sending energy back to the grid during periods of high energy demand.
Saving Money with ChargeScape
EV owners who take advantage of ChargeScape’s services can theoretically save money by allowing the system to pause charging and sell stored EV battery energy back to their local utility companies.
Nissan’s Commitment to Bidirectional Charging
Nissan is no stranger to bidirectional charging technologies. Since 2012, the automaker has included this capability in its pioneering Leaf EV chargers, which were designed to power homes during outages. Recent efforts to revitalize Nissan’s CHAdeMO charging port standard have been bolstered by V2G integrator Fermata Energy.
