Understanding Jeevan Pramaan and Annual Life Certificate Submission for Pensioners
What is Jeevan Pramaan?
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate for pensioners. It is generated using the individual's Aadhaar number and biometric data, serving as proof of life to pension disbursing authorities. This digital approach is recognized under the IT Act.
Deadline for Annual Life Certificate Submission
For pensioners aged 80 and above, the life certificate can be submitted starting from October 1, 2024, remaining valid until November 30th of the following year. Generally, the last submission date is November 30 unless extended by the government.
Consequences of Non-submission
- If the certificate isn't submitted by November, pension payments will cease from December onwards.
- If submitted later, payments for pending months will be processed along with arrears once updated in the pension system.
