Pune Metro Launch Details

PM Modi will flag off the Metro train in Pune, marking the inauguration of the underground section from District Court to Swargate. This completion signifies a major milestone in the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1), with a project cost of around Rs 1,810 crore. Modi will also lay the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension, which is a 5.46 km long underground stretch with three stations: Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 2,950 crore.

PARAM Rudra Supercomputers Installation

In a move to promote self-reliance in supercomputing technology, PM Modi will dedicate three PARAM Rudra Supercomputers, worth around Rs 130 crore, under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). Deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, these computers aim to facilitate groundbreaking research in various scientific fields.

Projects Leveraging Supercomputing

  • The Giant Metre Radio Telescope (GMRT) in Pune will utilize the supercomputers to explore Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs).
  • The Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in Delhi will bolster research in material science and atomic physics.
  • The S N Bose Centre in Kolkata will advance research in physics, cosmology, and earth sciences.

High-Performance Computing Initiative

Moreover, Modi will launch a high-performance computing (HPC) system aimed at enhancing weather and climate research with an investment of Rs 850 crore. Located at important sites like the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune, this system boasts impressive computing capabilities and is named 'Arka' and 'Arunika', reflecting their solar connection.

Comprehensive Development Projects

During his visit, PM Modi will also launch various initiatives in the petroleum and natural gas sector valued at Rs 10,400 crore, focusing on energy infrastructure and sustainable future solutions for drivers. Additionally, facilities for truckers will be developed at a cost of around Rs 2,170 crore to ease their journey.

Transformative Industrial Projects

Among the initiatives, Modi will inaugurate the Bidkin Industrial Area, covering 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program. This project, approved with a cost of over Rs 6,400 crore, is designed to develop a vibrant economic hub in the Marathwada region, emphasizing the central government’s commitment to industrial growth.
