Revamping Urban Spaces with GM and EVgo's Cutting-Edge EV Charging Stations
Innovative EV Charging Solutions
GM and EVgo are collaborating to develop groundbreaking flagship EV charging stations that resemble traditional gas stations. These stations aim to enhance the EV infrastructure in cities across Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas.
Details of the Project
- Location: Urban sites with access to amenities like shopping and food.
- Charging Infrastructure: Each station will feature 20 fast charging stalls, supporting up to 350kW speeds.
- Design Features: Pull-through stations, security cameras, and gas station-style canopies with ample lighting.
- Opening Timeline: The first charging stations are set to open in 2025.
As of August 2023, GM reported that it has opened 1,000 fast charging stalls in collaboration with EVgo, with the aim to reach 2,000 by year-end. Moreover, these urban stations are distinct from GM’s larger plan to establish a coast-to-coast charging network with 2,000 DC fast charging stations at various travel centers.
Future Collaborations
Since 2020, GM and EVgo have been enhancing their partnership to expand the EV charging ecosystem. GM is also exploring other solutions, including its Ultium 360 network, which integrates vehicle owners with multiple third-party networks.
