Transforming Healthcare: The New Cardiac Centre Under the PPP Model in Madikeri
A cardiac centre will be set up under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at the District Hospital in Madikeri, as announced by medical education minister Sharanprakash Patil. He made this statement during the inauguration of newly-installed MRI scanning equipment at the District Hospital.
As it stands, heart patients are compelled to travel to Mangaluru or Mysuru for necessary medical treatment. Given that Kodagu is a hilly terrain, the need for more medical facilities is imperative, the minister emphasized.
The newly installed MRI equipment was moved to Madikeri following advocacy from local MLA Manthar Gowda.
Furthermore, Patil confirmed a proposal of Rs 60 crore has been submitted to the state government for the completion of a new building at the District Hospital, with approval expected soon.
He acknowledged the shortage of doctors in several districts, including Kodagu, and mentioned that efforts to launch postgraduate courses at the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences could lead to a better staffing situation. The minister pledged to address vacant positions at the hospital.
