Alcon Children’s Vision Center Awarded for Exceptional Contributions to Children’s Vision
The Alcon Children’s Vision Center (ACVC) is the recipient of the 10th Annual Bonnie Strickland Champion for Children’s Vision Award from the National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health (NCCVEH). This prestigious award will be formally presented on October 24, 2024, during a special program celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the NCCVEH.
Jeff Todd, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness stated, “We know that providing children with the eyecare they need increases their chance of success in the classroom and helps put them on the path toward a lifetime of healthy vision.” He further congratulated the ACVC for their impactful efforts within the community.
The Bonnie Strickland Champion for Children’s Vision Award recognizes significant contributions by individuals or groups aimed at improving public health practices concerning children’s vision and eye health. Established in 2014, this award honors Bonnie Strickland for her work in creating a comprehensive system for children's vision across the United States. Accepting the award on behalf of the ACVC will be Jennifer Deakins OD, FAAO, and Richard E Weisbarth, OD, FAAO.
ACVC's Role in Promoting Vision Health
The ACVC operates through a vital partnership between the Alcon Foundation and the Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD). As a nonprofit organization, the center is committed to providing essential vision and eye health services to local students.
