Updated Vaccination Options

The updated COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot are available at the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment's walk-in immunization clinics located at:

  • Olathe: 11875 S. Sunset Drive
  • Mission: 6000 Lamar Ave.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone aged 6 months and older receive both vaccines before the end of October. Notably, both vaccines, along with the RSV vaccine for older adults, can be administered during the same appointment.

Eligibility and Importance of Vaccination

Individuals aged 5 and older are eligible for the updated COVID-19 vaccine if it has been two months since their last dose of any COVID-19 vaccine. Charlie Hunt, director of JCDHE, emphasized the importance of these vaccinations: “Getting the updated COVID-19 vaccine and a flu shot ensures your body is prepared to fight off any infection from these viruses while reducing your chances of severe illness if infected.”

Insurance and Appointment Details

The flu and COVID-19 vaccines are typically covered by most private health insurance plans, including Medicare Part B, Medicaid, and the Vaccines for Children program. For those without insurance, out-of-pocket payments are accepted. Importantly, no appointments are required at JCDHE's walk-in clinics.
