Mikaela Shiffrin’s Health Update After Crashing in Giant Slalom Event

Mikaela Shiffrin's Update on Her Health
Mikaela Shiffrin, the most successful alpine skier of all time, recently shared her recovery journey after crashing out in the women's giant slalom during the Stifel Killington Cup. “I’m starting to feel a little bit more human, which is great,” she expressed in a social media update.
Shiffrin faced a puncture wound in her abdomen as well as severe muscle trauma. US Ski and Snowboard reported that the 29-year-old athlete will not compete at the World Cup in Beaver Creek, Colorado, scheduled for December 14-15. “This is a really big bummer, not to be able to race Birds of Prey,” she remarked, adding that she looks forward to supporting her teammates.
Details of Her Injuries
During her latest hospital visit, there were initial concerns regarding her colon due to air bubbles near the injury. Fortunately, her colon was confirmed to be intact. However, the puncture did create a cavern in her oblique muscles, which resulted in bleeding, inflammation, and pain.
- Shiffrin led after her first run
- She crashed into a security fence during her second attempt
Fans of skiing and Shiffrin's journey eagerly await her return to the slopes.
