2024 Week 15: Tommy DeVito vs. Baltimore Ravens at New York Giants
General News on Tommy DeVito's Start
The Giants will have another change at quarterback, as Tommy DeVito will start against the Ravens Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll made the announcement Wednesday, adding that previous starter Drew Lock is in a walking boot due to a heel injury. DeVito started one game earlier this season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and went 21-of-31 for 189 yards and threw zero touchdowns or interceptions before suffering an arm injury (forearm contusion) in a 30-7 loss.
DeVito does pose more of a threat as a runner than Lock, as he had seven runs for 32 yards in his previous start this season. DeVito became a brief New York sensation last season when he took over for Daniel Jones as the starter and won three straight games. DeVito averaged nearly 200 passing yards and threw five touchdowns in those wins. But after a pair of losses, DeVito was replaced by former Raven Tyrod Taylor.
The Giants haven’t thrown a touchdown pass in nearly six weeks. DeVito will look to snap that skid against a Ravens defense that’s on the rise.
Injury Report for Ravens
Only One Raven Missing From Practice Due to Injury. The Ravens are healthy coming out of the bye, as rookie safety Sanoussi Kane (hamstring) is the only player not practicing Wednesday due to injury.
Wide receiver Diontae Johnson is the only other player not practicing as he’s serving his one-game suspension. Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring/neck) and wide receiver Rashod Bateman (knee) are both on the field again.
Nose tackle Michael Pierce (calf) and rookie cornerback T.J. Tampa (hamstring) both continue to work and could be brought off injured reserve this week. The Ravens have two open spots on their 53-man roster.
