Healthy Eating Index 2015: Essential for Managing Overactive Bladder
Healthy Eating Index 2015 and Overactive Bladder
TUESDAY, Oct. 29, 2024 (HealthDay News) -- Recent findings published in a journal suggest a positive association between a higher Healthy Eating Index (HEI)-2015 score and overactive bladder (OAB). Researchers from Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted between 2005 and 2020. They sought to determine how HEI-2015 relates to OAB by examining a subset of 29,206 participants, including 6,184 patients with OAB.
Key Findings from the Study
- The analysis revealed an independent link between higher continuous HEI-2015 scores and a lower incidence of OAB, with an odds ratio of 0.87.
- Comparing the highest versus the lowest quartile of HEI-2015 also indicated significantly lower odds of OAB (odds ratio, 0.72).
- A favorable nonlinear dose-response relationship between HEI-2015 and OAB was observed in the restricted cubic spline curve.
This research emphasizes the importance of dietary patterns in managing overactive bladder symptoms.
