The Chicago Department of Public Health has announced its schedule for vaccination clinics for the new COVID-19 vaccine this fall 2024. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months or older receive the latest COVID-19 vaccine along with the flu vaccine.
Accessing the Vaccines
- Those who haven't had a COVID-19 vaccination in over two months should get the updated vaccine as soon as possible.
- Both COVID and flu vaccines can be found at commercial pharmacies.
- Medicaid, Medicare, and private health insurance generally cover these vaccines when provided by in-network doctors.
Options for Uninsured Individuals
People without health insurance can receive no-cost vaccines from various city Department of Public Health clinics:
- Greater Lawn Immunization Clinic: 4150 W. 55th St., open Mon-Fri from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Uptown Clinic: 845 W. Wilson Ave., open Mon, Wed, Fri 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tue, Thu 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Pilsen Family Health Center Lower West Clinic: 1713 S. Ashland Ave., open Thu and Fri from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but it is advisable to register in advance. Additionally, family COVID and flu vaccination clinics will take place at City Colleges of Chicago on specific dates, with no insurance requirement.

COVID and flu vaccinations are also available at City Hall, with specific dates provided in the CDPH Vaccine Clinics Calendar. Everyone is encouraged to bring their insurance cards, although service will not be denied to anyone without insurance.
