Morning Nutrition Programme: A Milestone in Child Health Nutrition

Morning Nutrition Programme Makes History

The Morning Nutrition Programme initiated by the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has achieved a remarkable milestone by serving 1 crore children across India. This program is aimed at combating hidden hunger and enhancing the nutritional intake of school children in both rural and urban government schools.

Recognizing Contributions

The success of this initiative is attributed to the invaluable contributions of corporate partners, farmers, and various stakeholders. An event titled 'Power of Poshan' was held on 12 September 2024 at Sathya Sai Grama, where the Trust honored these key supporters.

Essential Partnerships

  • International Cricketer Jonty Rhodes joined to celebrate this achievement.
  • Collaboration with local farmers has been a cornerstone of the initiative.
  • Approximately 500 to 600 tons of millet grains are procured monthly.

Expanding Horizons of Health

Under the guidance of Sri Madhusudan Sai, the programme is evolving to cover Anganwadi centres, aiming to include younger children in its nutritional outreach. The Trust emphasizes a holistic approach to nutrition, ensuring that children receive the nourishment essential for their growth and learning.

In support of local agricultural economies, the program compensates farmers well beyond the minimum support price, which significantly bolsters their livelihoods. As the initiative expands, it also contributes to the overall health of children, fostering a generation equipped to thrive.
