Unsafe lead levels have been detected in certain ground cinnamon products, according to Consumer Reports. The report revealed that 12 out of 36 cinnamon types tested contained lead levels exceeding safe limits, posing significant health risks, especially for children. Consumer Reports has alerted consumers about concerning lead levels in specific ground cinnamon products, emphasizing the potential health hazards. Testing revealed alarming levels, particularly in two cinnamon powders.

Reported Findings on Cinnamon Products

  • Paras cinnamon powder: 3.52 parts per million of lead
  • EGN cinnamon powder: 2.91 parts per million of lead
  • Additionally, 10 other cinnamon products showed significant lead levels:
    1. Mimi's Products ground cinnamon: 2.03 ppm
    2. Bowl and Basket ground cinnamon: 1.82 ppm
    3. Rani Brand ground cinnamon: 1.39 ppm
    4. Zara Foods cinnamon powder: 1.27 ppm
    5. Three Rivers cinnamon stick powder: 1.26 ppm
    6. Yu Yee Brand five spice powder: 1.25 ppm
    7. BaiLiFeng five spice powder: 1.15 ppm
    8. Spicy King five spices powder: 1.05 ppm
    9. Badi cinnamon powder: 1.03 ppm
    10. Deep cinnamon powder: 1.02 ppm
